Four gunmen attempted to storm an Indian air force base near the border with Pakistan on Saturday, but were foiled, an official said.
India’s Defense Ministry spokesman Dhananjay Mohanty told CNN the botched attack took place at the Pathankot air force base in the northwestern state of Punjab.
Indian security forces intercepted the gunmen, and two of the militants died in the ensuing gunfight.
“The other two (attackers) have been identified. The situation is under control,” Mohanty said. Four Indian security personnel were injured.
No group has claimed responsibility for the action.
