The job of late night TV host may be hazardous to one’s health.
Trevor Noah, the host of “The Daily Show,” underwent an emergency appendectomy Wednesday morning which will cause him to miss Wednesday night’s broadcast, according to Comedy Central.
“We’re happy to report the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery,” the network said in a tweet on Wednesday.
“The Daily Show” will air a rerun on Wednesday night.
Comedy Central said that the network expects that Noah, 31, and “The Daily Show” will be back on Thursday.
Noah joins Jimmy Fallon as a late night casualty.
“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon has chipped his tooth, cut his hand, and almost ripped his finger off over the course of a few months.
Noah took over “The Daily Show” from longtime host Jon Stewart in August.
Stewart won’t be in retirement for long, however.
The comedian struck a four-year deal with HBO Tuesday to create “short-form digital content” that will appear on HBO sometime next year.
