Sophie J Colton, 91 a resident of Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehab Center, Clearfield and formerly of Beulah died Monday June 22, 2015 at the center.
Born April 24, 1924 in Smokerun, she was the daughter of John and Eva (Corrnish) Katishen.
Sophia was a homemaker and a member of St Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey.
She married Walter Colton who preceded her in death on December 28, 1993.
Sophie is survived by a daughter Shirley Harnish and her husband Charles of Houtzdale, two sons, Dennis Colton of Houtzdale and William Colton and his wife Betty of Philipsburg, six grandchildren, Bryan Harnish and his wife Lori of Houtzdale, James Harnish and his wife Brenda of South River, NJ, Charles Harnish of Michigan, Krista Thumma and her husband Joe of Carlisle, Heather Herring and her husband Tom of Philipsburg, Michael Colton and his wife Sherry of Bloomington, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Also surviving is a brother John Katishen of Beccaria, and four sisters, Christine Smeal of Ramey, Helen Bungo and her husband George of Ramey, Rose Bungo of Ramey and Mary Ann Nevling of Ramey.
Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Robert, a daughter-in-law Karen Colton and an infant sister.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday June 25, 2015 at 11:00 am at St Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ramey with Father William Rupp officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 am at the Birger A Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. Houtzdale.
