Frances M.Mitchell, Age 87 of West Washington Ave., DuBois, PA died Friday, June 19, 2015 at Christ the King Manor.
Born on February 12, 1928 in Salem Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Michael C. & Dorothy (Miller) Chestnut.
On November 24, 1949, she married Ronald Mitchell. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2007.
Fran worked for many years in the kitchen at Christ the King Mano. She, along with her husband, was the owner of Mitchell’s Gulf Service on Brady Street in DuBois for over 25 years.
She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and was very active the St. Catherine Church affairs. Fran was the valedictorian of Sykesville High School Class of 1945. She served on the DuBois First Ward Election Board for many years, was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and was a member of the Friendship Hose Co. # 2 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children (Margaret “Peggy” Blaszczyk & her husband Jerry of Erie, PA; Gary Mitchell & his wife Jacqueline of DuBois, PA; Dorothy Morris & her husband Robert of Williston, VT; and Douglas Mitchell & his wife Annette of Erie, PA) a brother (James Chestnut of Austin, TX) 6 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother (Charles Chestnut)
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. to be immediately followed by a scriptural wake service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 10 a.m. from St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.
