CLEARFIELD-A DuBois man who failed to register as required under Megan’s Law was sentenced to state prison Tuesday during plea and sentencing court in Clearfield County.
Carl Roy Mock, 48, pleaded guilty to failure to provide accurate registration information and failure to verify address/be photographed which are both felony offenses. Judge Paul E. Cherry sentenced him to 30 months to five years in state prison.
Prior to sentencing his attorney, Chris Pentz explained that Mock was in the hospital and various other facilities during the time he did not register. He stated that Mock was never out long enough to change his address which had previously been the Just for Jesus Homeless Shelter.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police received an investigation request from the Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law Section regarding Mock. Mock is a sexually violent predator who was convicted of indecent assault on a child less than 13-years of age in Feb. 2013. This conviction requires he register his address with law enforcement for the rest of his life.
Mock last updated his information on Jan. 19 when he listed his address as 635 Maple Ave. in DuBois which is the Penn Highlands Behavioral Unit. When officers tried to make contact with him there, they discovered he had not been in the facility since Feb. 3. Mock failed to update his address change within three days as is required.
On March 11 Mock was listed as Clearfield County’s “Fugitive of the Week”.
