White House lawn temporarily locked down

Three men were arrested and charged with unlawful entry between Sunday and Monday after crossing onto unauthorized grounds near the White House.

The Secret Service temporarily locked down the White House’s North Lawn on Monday morning after a man entered entered a pedestrian gate leading onto the White House grounds, according to the agency.

The man, Michael J. Fogg of Newport News, Virginia, was quickly taken into custody at about 6:45 a.m. by uniformed Secret Service officers.

He had attempted to enter White House grounds at an entrance near East Executive Avenue, a small drive way that runs between the Treasury Department and East Wing, a Secret Service official said. Fogg tried to walk in after a construction worker exited.

The Secret Service also arrested Curtis Smith of Coatesville, Pennsylvania after he climbed an outer stone wall near the White House.

And Ian Boone of Cambridge, Ontario was arrested late Sunday night after climbing over the a bike rack encircling the White House near the William Sherman Monument, according to the Secret Service.
