Bison Wrestlers Finish with Six Medalists, Fifth Place Team at Tool City

MEADVILLE — After two weeks off the mat, the Clearfield Bison wrestling team returned to action over the weekend at the 36th Annual Tool City Tournament at Meadville High School.

The Bison managed a fifth place finish out of the 15 teams participating. General McLane ran away with the title with 229.5 points to runner-up Boiling Springs’ 179 points. Clearfield scored 122 points in the two-day tourney.

The highest placing of the six medalists was a second by freshman Luke McGonigal at 145 pounds. In his first action since sustaining an injury in the season-opening Top Hat tourney, McGonigal was defeated 9-3 by McLane’s Owen Watkins in the championship bout.

Placing third for the Bison were Logan Gilbert at 126, Noah Cline at 132, and Travis Ogden at 195. Ogden suffered his first loss of the season the the tourney semifinals.

Josiah McClarren placed fourth at 120, while Tallin Norris placed sixth at 152.

Also participating in the tourney for the Bison were Matt Ryan at 106, Chance Timko at 113, Logan Puit at 138, Grant Climie at 160, Levi Wisor at 170, Michael Hadden at 182, Brian Thorpe at 220, and Nate Lash at 285.

The Bison (1-3) will return to dual meet action when they hit the road again on Tuesday night at Penns Valley (0-4).
