STATE COLLEGE – Centre LifeLink Emergency Medical Services and the Centre County Chapter of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, will recognize local CPR rescues, first responders and cardiac arrest survivors at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The CPR open house is open to the public and anyone who has been involved in a CPR rescue or is a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest is encouraged to contact Centre LifeLink EMS to be recognized. “One of the most important pieces of the chain of survival in a sudden cardiac arrest is early CPR and early defibrillation with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED),” said Eliza Shaw, Centre LifeLink’s training coordinator. “That is why we put such an emphasis on training people in our community to provide that early care.”
Centre LifeLink EMS supports the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association in its mission to promote CPR training and the placement of AEDs in the community. “When CPR is started prior to our EMTs and paramedics arriving, we are better able to administer the care we need to, and we need to work with the community to dramatically improve the chance of survival for someone that suffers from a sudden cardiac arrest.”
