Bearcats Claw Bison 65-41 on Hardwood

HUNTINGDON — The Clearfield Area High School boys basketball team was unable to slow down Huntingdon’s two returning starters and suffered a 65-41 setback in Mountain League action Friday night.

Seniors Nate Gearhart and Devon Claar combined for 50 points to get the Bearcats into the win column after two losses.

Gearhart, a 6-4 forward, poured in 27 points while Claar, a 5-11 guard, also was in a zone with 23 points.

The Bearcats put the Bison in a big hole with a 25-point first quarter and turned a 36-17 halftime bulge into a 60-24 cushion going to the final period.

Jon Janocko hit a pair of three-pointers to pace Clearfield with 10 points. Ryan Lezzer added nine points on a trio of three-pointers.

Missing from the Bison lineup was senior Christian Lezzer, who is making an official football recruiting visit to Boston College this weekend.

The Bison slipped to 0-3 with an 0-2 league record.

Huntingdon also won the junior varsity game, 36-30.

Clearfield has two more league games next week, Wednesday at home against Bald Eagle Area and Friday at Bellefonte.
