CLEARFIELD – A community service project took place in Clearfield on, July 23-24 through the efforts of the Potter Baseball Traveling Team and a partnership with the Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC).

Eighteen of the team’s players, ages 13 to 15 years old, constructed a volleyball court in Upper Witmer Park of Clearfield.  The team also painted picnic tables and cleaned up the park.  Clearfield’s visit marked days 22 and 23 of a 26-day tour, and their games in town were complemented by community service.

The tour takes them across Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland. Potter Baseball Founder and Head Coach, Jeff Potter stated, “This was a great event, and we look forward to returning to Clearfield in the future to take on an even bigger project.”   CRC President Dr. Keely Casteel stated, ” Potter Baseball resonates many qualities [that] the CRC values:  respecting small towns, teaching kids hard work and inspiring us all to get involved and make our communities better.

“The entire CRC is grateful to Jeff Potter and the boys for their service. They have made Clearfield a little bit better for all of us.”

The CRC would also like to thank Centre Concrete, RW Products LLC, the Clearfield Fire Department and the Clearfield Borough Street Department for their generosity and support in making this project possible. The volleyball court has been named the “Potter Volleyball Court” and is now open to the public. A ball can be borrowed at the Clearfield Borough Administrative Office between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
