CLEARFIELD – A convicted sex offender who failed to verify his registry waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge James Hawkins during Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Clair Anthony Houdeshell II, 50, of Lingle Street, Osceola Mills has been charged for his failure to register with the Pennsylvania State Police and to verify his address and to be photographed. His bail has been set at $25,000 monetary.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Houdeshell failed to comply with state registration requirements for convicted sex offenders. Further investigation revealed that Houdeshell had moved out of his registered residence, and it was unknown where he was currently residing.
In a press release last week, Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. said an anonymous tip to the Pennsylvania State Police provided the location of Houdeshell. On July 25 officers from the Clearfield Borough Police Department apprehended Houdeshell at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds, and he was taken into custody without incident. At the time of apprehension, Houdeshell was working at the fairgrounds.
