BELLEFONTE – Work to repair the Wallace Run Bridge on Route 4004 (Chestnut Grove Road) in Boggs Township will get under way July 29. Repairing the deck of the bridge will extend its service life for years to come and provide area drivers with safer, more efficient travel.

The bridge spans Wallace Run on Route 4004, near the Boggs Township building and the intersection with Route 144. The bridge was built in 1938, is 48 feet long and carries an average of almost 60 vehicles each day.

When the repair work begins on July 29, an official detour will be in effect. Drivers will use Routes 504 and 144 to get around the closure.

Work is scheduled to last until early August. Crews from PennDOT Centre County Maintenance will perform the repairs, which are weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, follow detour signs, and always buckle up.
