State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) recently presented citations from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to three area girls who each earned their Girl Scout Gold Award. They are, from left to right, Josie DelRio and Deana Benson of Johnsonburg and Linnea Stager of Ridgway.
Each of them performed a specific project to earn the award. Josie created a “Kiddies’ Corner” at the Johnsonburg Community Center and decorated it with murals and artwork.
Deana supplied fresh vegetables for the Johnsonburg Food Pantry, acquiring permission from Johnsonburg Borough for the use of land, seeding and cultivating the garden.
As part of an anti-bullying/character-building project, Linnea gathered scripts for children’s plays, sewed puppets, designed and built a stage and recruited girls to put on a play for the Elk County Council of the Arts. Her efforts were then donated to the Ridgway Public Library.
