PHILIPSBURG – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to replace a bridge on Route 3034 (Loch Lomond Road) in Rush Township will get under way the week of July 22. Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from the list of structurally deficient bridges in Centre County. A new bridge will also provide area drivers with safer, more efficient travel across a modern structure.

The bridge spans One Mile Run on Route 3034 and is located less than a mile northeast of Philipsburg Borough. The bridge was built in 1935, is 20 feet long and carries an average of almost 300 vehicles each day.

Once replacement work begins, a single-lane, temporary road will guide traffic around the work zone. The alternating traffic pattern on the temporary roadway will be controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Work is scheduled to last until early September. BECDIR Construction Company of Berlin Center, Ohio is the contractor on this $870,000 project. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are reminded to use caution through all construction zones, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
