Detour will be in place

CLEARFIELD – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to replace a bridge in Gregg Township along township Route 468 (Ross Hill Road) will get under way today.

When the work is complete, PennDOT will be able to remove the bridge from the list of structurally deficient bridges in Centre County. The new bridge will provide area drivers with safer, more efficient travel across a modern structure.

The bridge spans Penns Creek in the village of Farmers Mills. The bridge was built in 1920 and is 59 feet long. The overall project includes the installation of a new box culvert and paving work on the bridge approaches.

There will be detour in place until late September to guide drivers around the construction zone. The detour utilizes Route 2012 (Penns Cave Road).

Emergency vehicles will be granted access to either side of Penns Creek but will not be able to cross at this location.

Work is scheduled to last until late November. Nestlerode Contracting Co. Inc. of Lock Haven is the contractor on the $596,000 job.  Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
