AUSTIN – A Bio Blitz program will be offered May 20-21 at the Sinnemahoning State Park, where a team of scientists, school students and volunteers will be in a race against time to find and identify as many species as possible.

A Bio Blitz is part scientific research, part exploration and part celebration. Participants will dive into the wonders of the Pennsylvania Wilds for two days of biodiversity mayhem.

All events are open to the general public.  The Bio Blitz will kick off at 9 a.m. May 20 at the Wildlife Center and conclude at 2 p.m. May 21.  Camping sites are available.

Visit the Bio Blitz Web site for more information; register for the event or to sign up to be a volunteer.

If you have questions or need more information on the Bio Blitz, please contact Art Metzger at 814-274-8004 For park specific information, contact the park office at 814-647-8401.

If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks: 888-PA-PARKS (voice), 888-537-7294 (TTY), 717-558-2711 (local or international TTY), 800)-654-5984 (PA AT&T Relay Service).  With at least three days of notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.  For more information visit the DCNR Web site at www.dcnr.state.pa.us.
