ALTOONA – Two new artist exhibits will run March 14 – April 14, in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona.
Precious, an exhibition of work by faculty artist Susan Marie Brundage, will be in the McLanahan Gallery, while New Works, by Penn State Altoona’s Emerging Artist in Residence, Jason Gorcoff, will be on exhibit in the Sheetz Gallery.
A reception for both artists will be held from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., March 14 in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Center.
Brundage received her M.F.A. in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2009 and her B.F.A in studio art from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989.
Precious is a series of small gouache paintings exploring a persistent fascination Brundage has with open pit mines, particularly open pit diamond mines and the geological devastation they create.
Gorcoff was raised on the east end of Long Island, NY. He studied sculpture and drawing at Maine College of Art and received his MFA from Indiana State University with a concentration in painting. His work is heavily influenced by 80’s film posters and 17th century Dutch and Italian paintings.
The galleries are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and before and during all performances.
