TYRONE – University Orthopedics Center (UOC) and Tyrone Hospital have announced a relationship to provide UOComp, an occupational health program, to Tyrone area employers.
UOComp is a service provided to employers, free of charge, which manages worker’s compensation injuries while reducing worker’s compensation claims.
Stephen Gildea, chief executive officer at Tyrone Hospital, said UOComp is an innovative service because it streamlines the worker’s compensation process for employers saving them time and lowering costs. “We are excited about this opportunity to expand our relationship with UOC and make this progressive service available to employers in Tyrone Hospital’s service area. Area employers who are already using UOComp have been very complimentary of the service.”
Key features of the UOComp program are early intervention, elimination of duplicate services, timely and efficient resource utilization and clear and timely communication among employers, employees, physicians and payors which is facilitated by on staff case managers.
“The success of UOComp stems from eliminating unnecessary costs to the employer by directing employee care to the appropriate medical specialist at the onset of injury,” said UOComp Coordinator and Case Manager, Connie Edsall, RN. “In the UOComp model, managed care is executed in a more efficient manner allowing the employee to return to work quicker, therefore, saving time and money for both the employee and employer. “
