Two Charged for Auto Sales Burglary

DUBOIS – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced today that charges have been filed against two individuals for the burglary of Royers 219 Auto Sales.

Shaw identified the defendants as David Jeffery Allen, 26, of Grampian and David Michael Schurr, 28, of DuBois.

Sgt. Rodney Fairman filed two criminal complaints, charging Allen and Schurr with: burglary, criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Fairman states that on Jan. 28, the Sandy Township Police Department was dispatched to Royers 219 Auto Sales for a reported burglary that occurred during the night.  Upon arrival, Fairman was met by employees who reported the business had been broken into and ransacked.  Employees reported that approximately 100 inspection stickers, two computers, approximately $2,200 in U.S. currency, a wireless internet card and a Net 10 cell phone with charger were stolen.  The total value of items stolen was approximately $9,700.

While at the scene, Fairman recovered video surveillance footage from security cameras that had been damaged during the burglary.  The video footage depicted two Caucasian males entering the business at approximately 12:30 am.  The surveillance footage also captured a Dodge Intrepid driving away from the scene.

Following an extensive investigation, Fairman filed criminal complaints, charging both Allen and Schurr with the burglary.  Allen is currently incarcerated in the Indiana County Jail pursuant to a state parole violation.  An arrest warrant has been issued for Schurr’s arrest.Shaw stated that anyone with information on the location of Schurr is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers.

Shaw credited the hard work of Fairman and the Sandy Township police with resolving this case in a timely manner.  Shaw also pointed out that this is another example of surveillance  equipment working properly to assist law enforcement solve crime.
