Wendell J. “Tax” Kelley, 88, of Woodland died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. He was born Jan. 29, 1925 at West Decatur, a son of the late Frank and Attie (Mills) Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving with the 359th Infantry Regiment during World War II.
Mr. Kelley worked for General Refactories and several other local companies. He also did furnace repair and service work until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Verma Jean Kelley, whom died Dec. 21, 2010; a son, James Kelley; three sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by two granddaughters, Nicky and Jessica; two grandsons, Chase and Brooks Kelley; a brother, Wayne Kelley and his wife, Geane; and a daughter-in-law, Valerie Kelley.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and time, to be announced.
