CLEARFIELD – A Coalport woman pleaded guilty for her involvement in a convenience store robbery in Clearfield County Court.

Angela Marie Crook, 28, Coalport, was originally charged with criminal conspiracy/robbery in connection with the robbery of the Coalport Minit Mart on Sept. 6, 2010. During plea and sentencing court on Tuesday, she pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and was sentenced to two years of probation. She was fined $250 plus costs.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the clerk at the store told police the robber who had a gun ordered her to hand over all the money. She responded that she didn’t know what to do. The suspect told her to open the register and put all the money in a bag. She then did as she was asked. The victim described the robber as sounding like a female and the gun as looking like a cap gun.

Shannon Marie Cheripka was interviewed and at first denied any involvement. But when she was shown a surveillance photo, she admitted to the crime. She told police she and a friend decided to go to the Minit Mart because they knew the girl working there was new to the job. Cheripka said she only got $130, which she split with her friend, Crook, who had taken the gun from a boy’s toy room.

When Crook was interviewed, she said Cheripka was always talking about robbing places. She admitted to dropping off Cheripka near the store but wasn’t sure if she was going to rob it. But when she saw her running back to the vehicle, she realized Cheripka had actually done it. Crook stated she only got about $60 from the robbery.

In April 2011, Cheripka was sentenced to 12 months to three years in state prison for robbery.
