CLEARFIELD – A DuBois man accused of breaking into a Sandy Township residence pleaded guilty Tuesday in Clearfield County Court.
Donald Richard Frantz Jr., 34, of 1045 S. Brady St., DuBois, pleaded guilty to criminal trespass, unlawful restraint, driving under the influence, criminal mischief and public drunkenness. He was sentenced to 60 days to one year in jail and 30 months consecutive probation. He was fined $650 plus costs. He was ordered to complete anger management counseling, the DUI school and drug/alcohol counseling.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Dec. 10 the victim told police she was in bed when she got a phone call from Frantz, who was asking her to let him into the residence. She refused and told him to leave. Instead Frantz entered by breaking a window and began to chase the victim through the home. She was able to dial 911 and shout her address into the phone, before he took the phone from her. When police arrived, he had already left the scene. A description of Frantz was broadcast to police units via radio.
Another officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one Frantz was driving. The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver who was identified as Frantz. As the officer spoke with him, he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Frantz was asked to complete field sobriety tests, which he failed.
