JONES TOWNSHIP – Major to minor injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at 9:15 p.m. Friday along state Route 219, just 49 feet north of Freedom Drive in Jones Township, the Ridgway-based state police reported.

Danielle L. Winiecki, 23, of Gasport, NY was stopped in traffic in the southbound lane for a vehicle turning left on SR 219. Leander M. Ginther, 92, of Kersey failed to observe the Winiecki vehicle stopped. The Ginther vehicle subsequently impacted the rear bumper of the Winiecki vehicle.

Ginther sustained major injuries as a result of the accident. Winiecki wasn’t injured. Her passenger, Amy E. Allison, 40, of Clarence, NY sustained moderate injuries, while her passengers, Tristan L. Lambright, 23, of Tonawanda, NY and Lauren R. Picciano, 24, of Liverpool, NY had minor injuries.

All vehicle occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Ginther was cited for following too closely through the district court.

State police were assisted by the Wilcox Fire Department and the Wilcox Rescue Squad.
