Verna Minko, 86 of Hawk Run, passed away on April 2 at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg.
Born Jan. 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Mary (Pecha) Hubo.
She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run, where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She worked as a seamstress for McTague Manufacturing and later Charles Navasky and Company, Philipsburg, until retirement.
On Sept. 24, 1966 in Ramey, she wed Stanley Minko. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Ann Concel, Mary and Helen Hubo; brothers Mike and John Hubo and Godson Mark Consel.
She is survived by son Stanley M. Minko of Hawk Run and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her generation.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on April 7 at 10 a.m. at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run, with the Rev. Robert J. Horgas as celebrant. Burial will be at the Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Hawk Run. Visitation will be held on April 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
