Police have filed citations on a Verseailles, PA man that was involved in a hit-and-run with the Nichols Street Bridge on Jan. 23, 2011. Police, with the assistance of a local auto repair shop, were able to identify the make and model of the vehicle involved in the accident. Officers began looking for the vehicle and located parked in a driveway on Nichols Street. The driver was cited for damage to unattended property and driving vehicle at safe speed. A damage value to the bridge has not been determined.
Several businesses were damaged over the weekend. Two on Elk Avenue and one on Nichols Street had windows broken. Damage is estimated at over $1,000.
Police are investigating an assault at JG Food Warehouse. A woman had an unknown substance projected on her back while she was walking in the parking lot. Officers obtained a description of a male and the vehicle he was operating.
Police received a parking complaint on South Fourth Street. A vehicle was blocking a fire hydrant. The vehicle was ticketed.
Police assisted a disabled motorist on Pennsylvania Avenue.
A 20-year-old woman from Houtzdale was stopped for a traffic violation on West Fifth Street. She was consuming alcohol and on probation with a “no alcohol” clause. She will be cited for several traffic violations. The county probation department placed a detainer on her for her arrest. She is currently in Clearfield County Jail.
