HARRISBURG – Gov. Edward G. Rendell today ordered all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags statewide to be flown at half-staff to honor of the victims of a deadly shooting that occurred Jan. 8, in Tucson, Arizona.

On Saturday, a gunman opened fire at a constituent event held by U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, killing six people and wounding 14 others. Rep. Giffords, who police say was targeted for assassination, was critically wounded.

Killed were U.S. District Judge John Roll, 63; Gabe Zimmerman, 30; Dorothy Morris, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, also 76; Phyllis Scheck, 79 and Christina Taylor Greene, 9.

President Barack Obama ordered all U.S. flags lowered and asked all Americans to observe of a moment of silence at 11 a.m. today.

Flags should remain at half-staff through sunset on Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.
