Obituary Notice: Ronald N. Reed Sr.

Ronald N. Reed, Sr., age 73, of Winterburn Road in Rockton, PA died Nov. 9, 2010 at Christ the King Manor.

He was born on Oct. 17, 1937 in Buffalo, New York.  He was the son of Ike B. and Evelyn (Landow) Reed. 

He married Kay L. (Johnston) Reed on August 23, 1958 in Kenmore, New York.  She survives.

He was the general manager at various “Mr. Wiggs” Department Stores throughout the Eastern seaboard and Ohio Valley.

He was a member of the Light & Life Methodist Church in DuBois where he enjoyed helping with church events.  He was an amateur HAM radio operator.  His call sign was N3GJZ.  He was a member of the Punxsutawney Area Amateur Radio Club.  He enjoyed electronics and being with his grandchildren.  He loved his dog, Penny.

He is survived by his sons:  Ronald N. Reed, Jr. and his wife, Tracey of DuBois, PA, Richard N. Reed and his wife, Debbie of Reynoldsville, PA and Chris A. Reed and his wife, Lisa of DuBois, PA, one step son, John D. Reed of Michigan, two brothers, Dennis L. Reed and his wife, Pat of Buffalo, New York and Donald G. Reed and his wife, Sharon of Buffalo, New York, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends will be received on Nov. 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home. 

A funeral service will be held on Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Richard Howe officiating. 

Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant Street 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1916.
