CLEARFIELD – The Ritz Theatre in Clearfield will feature ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows’, an event that will feature a premiere midnight showing on Nov. 18 of the eagerly anticipated movie version of the seventh novel in the J.K. Rowlings “Harry Potter” series.
Since the Clearfield Ritz Twin Movie Theatre patrons begin lining up in the late afternoon for a midnight showing of a an fan-favorite movie, owner Bob Knepp has authorized a “pre-show” to entertain devoted theatre lovers., especially those fond of Harry Potter.
Beginning at 10 p.m., two hours before the midnight show, Ritz patrons will be entertained by the Harry Potter Players, look-a-likes from the movies who will give away prizes, mingle with the crowd, and offer up other surprises.
Expect to see The Dementer, Rubeus Hagrid, Sirius Black, Delores Umbridge, J.K. Rowlings, Minerva McMonigal, Dumbledore, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Harry Potter himself. (The roles of Alastar Moody, Silas Snape, and Lord Vortemond are still available to interested actors.)
The ugliest and meanest of Hogwart’s faculty will guard the movie goers outside against evil Muggles who try to cut line.
Once inside the theatre, the patrons can appreciate the Potter-themed decorations from the past movies as well as the Hallows.
Among the Hogwart students of wizardry, rumor has it that the dragon might appear overhead; a coiled snake over twelve feet long will seemingly prepare to strike with fangs a foot long. They even heard of Harry Potter performing magic, and JK Rowlings making an appearance.
To help fund this Hogwart’s Happening, event planners have been soliciting local businesses for donations or gifts for the Ritz Twin patrons who attend the pre-show. However, they cannot visit every business in person.
Contributing businesses will be acknowledged during the prize presentation and in a “thank you” display case.
If a local business is interested in donating a gift, it can either be mailed to the Ritz Theatre by Nov. 15 at 111 E Market St., notify the Ritz with a phone call requesting the gifts be picked up.
The Ritz Twin management reminds theatre-goers that it is and has been their policy not to sell tickets in advance.
