PHILIPSBURG – Junior high school students in Philipsburg will have the day off today due to a large number of upset stomachs.

According to the school district’s Web site:

“Due to a large number of absences and complaints of upset stomach at the Junior High School, the district has decided to close only the Junior High School tomorrow, Friday Nov. 5 All other buildings will remain open as usual. School personnel have been working closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Health to investigate the cause. The Department of Health is not recommending the building be closed. The District made the decision to close as a precaution, and to allow the custodial staff time to thoroughly clean and disinfect the building this evening. Parents are urged to follow best health practices, including regular hand washing. Click here to read a fact sheet with additional information. We will continue to keep you updated with the latest information. The MoValley YMCA Youth Theatre Production will still be held Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Junior High School.”
