OTTO-ELDRED — The #9 seed Lady Tide volleyball team travelled to face the #8 seed Otto-Eldred Lady Terrors on Tuesday night, but fell short in their bid to knock off the higher seeded team.

Otto swept the Tide 25-21, 25-19, and 25-19 to advance to the District 9 A playoff quarterfinals where they will face the number one seed Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders Thursday night.

With the loss the Lady Tide finish the season at 13-6.

Lady Tide head coach Sandy Bailor said after the loss that,” We just couldn’t pull it altogether. We played hard but we found ourselves behind and had to play catch up all evening. In the first set we started out strong. There were long volleys that we were matching point for point, but we just couldnt finish. I feel strongly that if we could have gotten that first set the match would have been different.”

With the loss, three Lady Tide seniors ended their volleyball careers for Coach Bailor, “I am disappointed in the loss but I am not disappointed in the effort that the girls gave; they played hard all evening and gave me 110%.   It was the last match for the three seniors – Rachel Michaels, Audrey Thomas and Taylor Thornhill. These three fine young ladies had great careers and gave alot to the Lady Tide Volleyball program.”

The three seniors ended their careers with impressive individual statistics.  Thomas had 916 assists, Michaels had 898 kills, while Thornhill had 1112 kills in their four years together.

Lady Tide stats:

Rachel Michaels – 13 kills, 3 blocks and 4 service points;  Audrey Thomas – 13 assists and 4 service points;  Taylor Thornhill – 15 kills and 4 blocks; Savannah Strickland – 10 service points and 6 digs; Ricki Wells – 17 digs; Hannah Bressler – 23 digs; Abby Johnson – 9 digs;  Madison Peterman – 8 service points  and 11 assists; Katrina Seaburn – 12 digs.
