In November, "Expert Opinion with Graham Spanier" will feature "Advances in Technology: Sports Equipment," which is scheduled to air at noon on Monday, Nov. 8, as well as another future show dedicated to the hype and the hoopla of today’s game-day experience, which will be recorded with a live studio audience from the Newseum in Washington, D.C.

The main objectives of sports equipment are protecting athletes and enhancing their performance. Newer, lighter, more resilient materials help athletes gain an edge to achieve higher, faster, stronger results in competition. ‘Expert Opinion’ host Graham Spanier, president of Penn State, welcomes representatives from three major equipment manufacturers to discuss what’s next in the field of equipment technology. Spanier is joined by Brad Gaff, director of R&D for Wilson Sporting Goods Co./DeMarini Sports; Rick Wahlin, engineering manager for Nike Golf; and D.J. Mac Lean, director of sports marketing for Schutt Sports, a major manufacturer of football, softball and baseball equipment.

In addition, "Expert Opinion" has lined up special guests for shows on two exclusive topics.

The first, a one-on-one show with President Spanier and Mark Emmert, the new president of the NCAA, is scheduled to air at noon Eastern time on Monday, Nov. 22.

The second special show, "The Future of the Big Ten," will feature guests Jim Delany, commissioner of the Big Ten Conference; Harvey Perlman, chancellor of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln; and Mark Silverman, president of the Big Ten Network. Stay tuned to Penn State Live for an announcement of its air date and time.
