CLEARFIELD – A 13-year-old juvenile who has been accused of an assault that occurred Monday, Oct. 25 in Hillsdale was apprehended by the Lawrence Township Police Department.

He will face charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, harassment and offensive prohibited weapons. He was transported to the Bellefonte Juvenile Detention Facility, where he will await his court date.

In a press release, Police Chief Jeffery Fink reported that officers were dispatched to Hill Street for an alleged fight/disturbance at approximately 6:11 p.m. Tuesday.  At police arrival, they learned a 13-year-old runaway was allegedly being held down.

Fink said the juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the police station. At the station, the juvenile was questioned by police in the presence of his legal guardians. During the interview, police learned that the juvenile was responsible for an alleged attack on a 15-year-old male in a separate incident.

According to the press release, the 13-year-old suspect told police he placed a mask over his face to avoid identification. He then approached the victim, and the two “had words,” before he brandished a knife.

During the assault, the suspect advised police that he punched the 15-year-old numerous times in the “facial and head area.” The victim fell to the ground at which time the suspect said he kicked him numerous times in the “facial and head area.”

The suspect told police that the 15-year-old was able to return to his feet. At that time, he said he grabbed the victim and began to smash his head against the Hillsdale Community Building.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Clearfield Borough Police Department. They would also like to thank residents for their cooperation with police.

“The residents played a huge role in the investigation and capture of the juvenile,” Fink said.
