HOUTZDALE — The Curwensville Lady Tide volleyball team made the trip to rival Moshannon Valley a successful one by sweeping the Damsels 25-12, 25-21, and 25-15.

The win ups Curwensville’s record to 12-5 on the season with one regular season match yet to play.

Head coach Sandy Bailor was glad her team didn’t suffer a letdown after winning on THINK PINK NIGHT on Monday, “I was pleased with the way we came out and played tonight after a big match against Clearfield Monday. We dominated the first set but we were in a fight in the second set.  We were behind by four or five but fought back to win the set – a credit to the girls who adjusted to what Mo Valley was throwing at us. In the third set we settled down and played our game. ”

Lady Tide stats:

Audrey Thomas – 17 assists and 16 service points; Madison Peterman – 12 assists and 5 service points; Taylor Thornhill – 17 kills, 9 service points, and 4 blocks; Rachel Michaels – 16 kills and 6 service points; Hannah Bressler – 31 digs; Ricki Wells – 15 digs; Abby Johnson – 10 digs.

After studying the stat line Bailor added that, ” We had another great night at the net with Taylor and Rachel combining for 33 kills. We were  strong on the service line again with Audrey leading us in service points with 16, and both the setters (Audrey and Madison) were on target for our hitters.  Defensively, Hannah played one of the best games this season; she is getting stronger and that’s going to help us in the playoffs. The
play of the rest of the girls – Ricki, Abby, Katrina and Savannah – is helping us down the stretch.”

The junior varsity stayed hot also by winning 25-17 and 25-10 to up their record to 10-7.

The Lady Tide will be back in action on Thursday nught when they travel to Brockway. The District 9 playoffs are on tap for next week.
