CURWENSVILLE — The Curwensville Lady Tide volleyball team was swept Tuesday night by the visiting Lady Chucks of Punxsutawney 13-25, 15-25, and 20-25 in a packed Patton Gymnasium.

Despite the three games to zero outcome, head coach Sandy Bailor was upbeat about her team’s performance, “…the scores don’t indicate just how hard the girls played tonight against a very good, well balanced team.  We struggled at times in serve receive, which allowed several points on aces, but overall the girls hustled and gave 110% tonight and as a coach that is what you are looking for in every match.”

Lady Tide stats:

Taylor Thornhill – 12 kills and 4 blocks; Rachel Michaels – 4 kills and 2 blocks; Audrey Thomas – 8 assists; Madison Peterman – 8 assists and 8 service points; Hannah Bressler – 14 digs; Abby Johnson – 14 digs; Ricki Wells – 9 digs.

The junior varsity team was also swept by the Lady Chucks 6-25 and 17-25 to drop back down to .500 on the season at 7-7.

The Lady Tide (9-5) will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to face DuBois Central, a team the Tide swept earlier this year.

NOTE — As a reminder, the Lady Tide’s final home match – October 25 against rival Clearfield – will be a “THINK PINK” night. Both teams will be sporting their pink t-shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Come out and support your two local teams and help raise funds for cancer.
