Obituary Notice: Norman E. Dixon

Norman E. “Bub” Dixon, 88 of West Decatur, passed away on Oct. 2, 2010 at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.

Born Jan. 17, 1922, he was the son fo the late Edgar and Alma (Shimmel) Dixon.  

On April 17, 1970 in Philipsbug, he married Helen (Belford) Brink Dixon, who preceded him in death on April 8, 1997. 

He is survived by daughter Janice “Jenny” Hahn and her friend Dave Deitz of York; step-daughter Faye Nickerson and her husband John of Florida; companion Faye English of Bigler; siblings Pauline Mills of West Decatur, Marian Moist of New York, Mona Baney and her husband Darrell of West Decatur, Charles W. Dixon and his wife Nancy of Dover, PA; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Eunice (Hewitt) Dixon, second wife, daughter Bonita Dullen, brothers Lionel and Paul Brooks Dixon and sister Imilda Jane Shields.

He retired from Penn Coal Company, where he was a drag line operator, he was a member of the First Church of Christ in Philipsburg, he was a Veteran of the US Army haveing served during WWII and he was a member of the CCC Camp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques, attending auctions and flea markets. He was a Big Brother to Marty Zahuranec.

Funeral Services will be held at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg, on Oct. 7 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating.  Burial will be at Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton, where military honors will be conducted by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Friends will be received at the funeral home of Oct. 6 from 5 until 8 p.m. and on October 7 from 12 until 1 p.m.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Church of Christ, 1437 Tyrone Pike, Philipsburg, PA 16866.
