CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of Sept. 27, 2010. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Russell Walter II, age 25, of 18th Ave., Altoona.

Shaw stated that Walter is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on Sept. 16, 2010.

On Feb. 24, 2010, Trooper Terry Jordan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Woodland Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Walter with: 1) Burglary, F2, 5 counts; criminal trespass, F2, 5 counts; 3) theft by unlawful taking, M2, 5 counts; and 4) receiving stolen

property, M2, 5 counts.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Jordan states that between December 1, 2008, and Feb. 1, 2009, the State Police were investigating a series of burglaries that occurred at the Kwik Check Market in Bigler Township, the Royal Oak in Guilich Township, and the Rainbow Inn in Beccaria Township. During the course of the investigation, Jordan interviewed several suspects. On June 19, 2009, Jordan interviewed a suspect who provided information supporting the arrest of Walter. The suspect interviewed was also arrested and charged with conspiracy for participating in the burglaries.

A preliminary hearing was held on March 10, 2010, at which time Walter waived the charges to Court. On Sept. 16, 2010, Walter failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for Walter’s arrest.

Walter is described as follows:

Race: White

Sex: Male

Height: 6 feet

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Brown

Anyone with knowledge of Walter’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crimestoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crimestoppers are confidential. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by visiting the Clearfield County District Attorney Web site and selecting “Report A Crime”.
