LTE: I Think Our Teachers Failed

I don’t know but I’m starting to think that somewhere along the line our teachers have failed in their efforts to teach people to read the English language!

I live along a well traveled street in Clearfield and I plainly read a Speed Limit “25” sign and at the intersection by my house is a Stop sign. Now I know a lot of folks make “rolling stops” when they come to a Stop sign, but that don’t make it legal or safe. Yesterday a pick-up,caught behind one of the school buses that makes a pick up beside my house, floored it after the bus went through the intersection and never even made an attempt to slow down for the stop sign. He just pulled into the main line of traffic and kept going. This is just an example of the dangers I see daily from my front porch. I wonder why the Borough Police don’t monitor traffic any better than they do. Aren’t they concerned about the safety of people using our streets? I guess they forgot the first part of their mission is to “Protect” and “Serve”.

What about our borough council and the mayor? I wonder if they spend any time looking around to see to the real needs of the citizens who elected them to the offices they hold. I guess in Clearfield no one wants to do the task assigned to them.

Traffic Control is a part of the mission and not just to control traffic at the scene of an accident that could have been prevented.

Daily I see trucks and cars speeding up and down the streets and wonder where the police are. Of course I wonder about the commercial traffic as this is telling me that these companies have no regard for the law or the safety of their neighbors. This traffic is like rolling billboards that say “This company only worries about the dollar and the devil with your safety and the laws” One of these companies is one that most of us get a bill from each month.
