CLEARFIELD – With fall just around the corner, the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (CCAAA) staff is already planning for the cold months. Every year, the Agency sends emergency Blizzard Box meals to homebound older citizens throughout the county. Consumers are encouraged to keep the meals on their shelf for stormy winter days when the Agency can’t make a regular delivery.
Since 1983, local Rotary Clubs, individuals, and businesses have pulled together with the CCAAA to fund this valuable program. The CCAAA is looking for people to sponsor Blizzard Boxes for this coming winter. The $10 sponsorship will cover the cost of the food and supplies necessary to complete a 2-meal blizzard box. Each box will have a label on the outside stating, “These nutritious meals are provided to you by: (your name).” This gives the donor some visibility for their support of the program, and it also allows the recipient to relate to people in the community who have provided this service.
This year, it is estimated that more than 1,000 boxes will be needed. If you would like to help, please return the form below with your check, made payable to the CCAAA, by October 15, 2010. Please note on the memo line “Blizzard Box.”
Our agency is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization; therefore, all gifts are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. For more information, please contact Rikki Ross, marketing & events coordinator, at 814-765-2696. Your contribution will ensure that homebound older citizens have something nutritious to eat even during spells of severe winter weather.
