George Ralph Finney, age 87, of Osceola Mills passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at his residence.
Born January 11, 1923, he was the son of Eli and Mary Finney.
He was a member of the Ashland Wesleyan Methodist Church.
He served with the United State Army in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe during WWII, and was employed by Rushton Mines until his retirement.
On September 9, 1950 he wed Velma Wilkes who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Sherry Shimmel and Shelley Hampton and her husband Wallace all of Osceola Mills; a sister, Mary Prato of Michigan; a brother, Eli Finney and his wife Elaine of Houtzdale; a grandchild, Keri Phillips of Julian and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Finney.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home with the Rev. E. Joseph Rohrbacker officiating.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home.
Interment will be held in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisban.
