HARRISBURG – Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Clearfield/Elk) has secured legislative approval of his first piece of legislation, as House Bill 1990 was unanimously passed by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Wednesday.

“Our county veterans affairs directors work very hard to navigate the bureaucracy involved in helping our veterans,” Gabler said. “Membership in a statewide association and attendance at their meetings is critical in learning up-to-date changes in state laws and programs, all with the ultimate goal of tending to the needs of our veterans and their families.”

House Bill 1990 adjusts the County Code to make it easier for county veterans affairs directors to attend annual statewide association meetings.

“It is an honor to serve my country as an Army Reservist, and I am honored to have the opportunity as a legislator to offer this commonsense fix to our laws that will help our veterans,” added Gabler. “This adjustment will enable county veterans affairs directors to be even better prepared to serve our veterans around Pennsylvania.”

The legislation now heads to the state Senate for consideration.
