CLEARFIELD – Preservation work will begin soon on the Rolling Stone Bridge on Route 1011 in Cooper and Covington Townships, Clearfield County. The bridge spans the West Branch of the Susquehanna River on Route 1011on the Cooper and Covington Township line. Route 1011 is also called Piper Road/Keewaydin Road/Rolling Stone Road. On March 30 a temporary signal will be in place at the bridge and motorists will be required to alternate turns crossing the bridge.
The temporary signal will allow traffic to continue through the area as crews make repairs. Work includes beam and abutment repair, latex overlay on the bridge deck, and some painting. Drivers should expect short delays. PennDOT expects to re-open both lanes of the bridge in late July of this year. All work is weather dependent.
Overall project work includes preservation of the current bridge, approach work and miscellaneous construction. The L.C. Whitford Company, Inc. of Wellsville, New York is the contractor on this $4.9 million job. This bridgework is part of a contract for work on six bridges in four counties.
