RIDGWAY – The Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers announced they are offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in a case of arson and criminal homicide.
According to a press release, the Punxsutawney State Police, Troop C, are continuing their search for those who are responsible for several arsons in Jordan Township, Chest Township, Beccaria Township, Gulich Township, Ramey Borough, Irvona Borough and Westover Borough, all located in Clearfield County. It stated that the arsons have occurred in abandoned or unoccupied structures and barns in isolated areas from April 13 – Oct. 25 of this year. It additionally stated that the fires are occurring between 11 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Between 10:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 and 12:12 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers indicated that a fire destroyed a two-story, wood-framed structure. They stated that it was an abandoned in a wooded area off of state Route 36 in Westover Borough. They stated that a volunteer fireman died as a result of the arson.
Anyone with information about the incident or any serious crime or wanted person is urged to contact the Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS. All callers remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
