Clearfield – The week of Oct. 12 will bring a detour for area drivers. As part of the new Susquehanna River Bridge project, crews will be working to reconstruct the stateRoute 879/Carbon Mine Road (Township Road 580) intersection.

The work will require a weeklong detour that uses SR 2024 (Old Erie Pike), SR 2023 (Clearfield-Glen Richey Highway) and Township Road 564 (Antes Hill Road). PennDOT expects the reconstruction work to last through Oct. 16. All work is weather dependent.

The new Susquehanna River Bridge opened around 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The work zone is located north of the new bridge on SR 879 in Lawrence Township between Clearfield and Curwensville. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $8.4 million replacement project.

For more information on roadway work and maintenance operations, visit the PennDOT Web site.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can also log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
