Coudersport – For the second consecutive day the Clearfield Babe Ruth 15 year old all-stars were locked in a tight battle at the District 8 tournament at CARP field in Coudersport.
Unfortunately, the Clearfield squad gave up too many unearned runs again, as Clearfield’s two pitchers only gave up four earned runs in the 9-6 loss.
Led by Kyler Kephart, who had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, Clearfield was locked in a 6-6 tie after three innings. Potter-McKean went on to score the final three runs to set the final score.
Two Potter-McKean pitchers combined to allow only five hits, with Tim McKusker working three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the save and Mike Miller working the first four innings to earn the win.
Potter-McKean, which dropped a 15-7 decision to Williamsport West End to fall into the consolation bracket, will face West End Sunday at 1:00 pm in the championship finals. Potter-McKean would need two victories to claim the title.
