PHILIPSBURG – The 12th annual Philipsburg Heritage Days celebration gets under way next week in historic downtown Philipsburg. This year the volunteers who make up the planning committee will be “Honoring the Past, Looking to the Future.”

Tuesday is opening night with vesper services and the awards ceremony, where a handful of local businesses, organizations, and individuals are honored for reaching milestone anniversaries in the community. On Wednesday and continuing the remainder of the week, day-long events go into full swing on Front Street, with food, crafts, games, and free entertainment for people of every age,

Festivities reach a pinnacle Saturday with the Grand Parade downtown and the fireworks display illuminating Cold Stream Dam, before wrapping up on Sunday with the annual car show. Check out the Heritage Days Web site for a complete copy of the schedule of events.

Heritage Days highlights the community and showcases Philipsburg’s many treasures. The six-day event attracts thousands from the area and beyond who return for family or class reunions or just to visit friends.

Planners strive to make Heritage Days an affordable experience for families, offering many events free of charge or at minimal cost. Despite the economy, Heritage Days continues to thrive, actually growing in size this year thanks to the generous contributions of several sponsors.
