CLEARFIELD – PennDOT changed weight limit restrictions today on the Muddy Run Bridge on state Route 2002, near the village of Smoke Run, Bigler Township, Clearfield County. Effective this afternoon, the Muddy Run Bridge will be posted for a 3-ton weight limit. The previous posting had been 34 tons for single vehicles and 40 tons for combination vehicles. Vehicles that exceed the 3-ton posting limit will need to use an alternate route.
The decision to lower the weight limit of the bridge was the result of a recent inspection. The Muddy Run bridge was built in 1938, is 66 feet long and carries an average of 712 vehicles per day.
