CLEARFIELD – PennDOT changed weight limit restrictions today on two bridges in Clearfield County.

PennDOT has now posted the state Route 3012/Mathews Run Bridge in the village of Rosebud for a 3-ton weight limit. The previous posting had been 14 tons. Vehicles that exceed the 3-ton posting limit will need to use an alternate route.

PennDOT also changed the posting for the SR 1001/Wolf Run Bridge, near the Clearfield Industrial Park. The weight limit is now 9 tons for single vehicles and 17 tons for combination vehicles. The previous posting was 29 tons and 40 ton combination. Vehicles exceeding the new posting limits will need to use an alternate route. The decision to lower the weight limits of the bridges was the result of recent inspections.

The SR 3012 bridge was built in 1941 is 12 feet long and carries an average of 1,400 vehicles per day. The SR 1001 bridge was built in 1936 is 19 feet long and carries an average of 135 vehicles per day.

The postings will remain in place until repairs can be made to the bridges. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit the PennDOT Web site.
