WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, announced that he will be joined by Clearfield County Commissioner Mark McCracken in Washington for President Barack Obama’s first State of the Nation Address Tuesday night. Thompson issued the following statement:
“While Mark and I may have disagreed on certain policies over the course of the campaign, it goes without question that we both want to see this President succeed. With the election now over, I look forward to working with Mark and other local and state officials – regardless of party affiliation – to promote sound policies that will encourage economic development and serve as the foundation to create and preserve jobs across the Fifth District. My wife Penny and I look forward to welcoming Mark and his wife Kelly to Washington to share in this historic occasion.”
Obama will address a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday. While this speech is not technically considered a State of the Union address because we have a newly elected Commander in Chief, Obama is expected to discuss the priorities of this Administration and the ailing economy. The address will begin at 9:00 p.m. and can be viewed on network television stations and cable news channels. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will give the Republican response shortly after Obama concludes his remarks.
