PHILIPSBURG – Project SOAR (Schools Organized to Achieve Results) serves 9th – 11th grade students in need of improving their math or reading scores. The program offers individualized academic support in an atmosphere that’s fun and educational and has been operating since October.
Program participants will also have an opportunity to explore career possibilities, participate in educational field trips, develop leadership skills, and accumulate community service hours towards graduation requirements.
Cen-Clear Child Services, Inc., in collaboration with Clearfield County school districts, was awarded funding through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant to operate the Project SOAR program. The 21st CCLC grants are awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Project SOAR is a free program operating in Clearfield, Curwensville, DuBois, Glendale, Harmony, Moshannon Valley, Philipsburg Osceola, and West Branch High Schools and is now accepting referrals.
Project SOAR runs Monday through Thursday for approximately 2.5 hours after school. Snacks, homework/tutoring time and an activity session occur daily. Transportation home is provided.
