CLEARFIELD – A Frenchville native was sentenced to six months in county jail on Monday.
Winston Lyle pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault, indecent sexual assault, corruption of minors and selling or furnishing liquor to minors.
Clearfield County President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman sentenced Lyle to six months in Clearfield County Jail and three years probation on the charge of statutory sexual assault. He is to refrain from the use or possession of alcohol and controlled substances, is not to have contact with one of the victims in the case and is to complete the Project Point of Light program.
On the charges of indecent sexual assault and corruption of minors, Lyle was sentenced to two years of probation for each count, with those sentences to run concurrent to the above sentence. On the furnishing charge he was sentenced to one year of probation to run concurrent to the above sentence.
He was also ordered to pay fines and costs.
According to court records police learned about the incidents and talked to the one victim who told police that Lyle offered her friend cigarettes for sex. The girl said that her friend would not do it unless she did it. The girl said that Lyle had provided them alcohol as well.
She said that she had sex with Lyle and that her friend did as well.
That girl told police that she did not want to press criminal charges. After speaking with the girl and her mother Ammerman granted contact with Lyle and the girl.
Police talked to the other girl who also told them that the girls had sex with Lyle and that he provided them alcohol and cigarettes.
During sentencing Lyle’s mother addressed the court. She confirmed that she contacted police about the incident. She told the judge that she and other family members were there to support Lyle.
